I love books! I love to read wherever I am. I read in the bathroom. I read when my husband is driving. I read on airplanes and in airports. I read in doctor offices. I read to the grandchildren. I have even been known to read while taking a walk. Where are your favorite reading spots?
I love to learn from people who are courageous enough to write a book that interests me. The very act of writing a book denotes a certain level of expertise, confidence and courage. I admire that, don’t you?
How many of us entertain one strain of thought long enough to put it into eight or more chapters that are so engaging that the reader, not only begins the book, but anxiously moves from one page to the next until she is finished with a sigh of satisfaction. I consider this one of the greatest feats of creativity.
I like to know what someone thinks about what I am interested in or curious about. I may not even know I am interested until someone tells me about it or I see an engaging title. If I am curious enough, the book will jump into my shopping cart and I will soon be reading its contents. Have you ever had that happen?
I don’t visit the library very often. I like to own my books. That may be a weakness because I do spend money every month on new books from Amazon. They should pay me to be their poster girl. With one click and no postage I will soon own yet another conversation with someone who has paid the price to think sequentially in several chapters about something tantalizing enough to hold my attention for a few days or weeks. It is an investment!
I am a book finisher. When I get a new book, I usually read through the table of contents and credits and then dive in. There have been times when I have actually read the last chapter first. These are non fiction, usually inspiring or about how the mind works or influencing others to recognize their greatness. Knowing the end from the beginning doesn’t detract from the over all content. I still finish the whole book. Do you?
I like to underline, or when no highlighter is handy, I turn down the corners of pages that vibrate brilliance to me. Some books are more turned down than not. That book must be a favorite–at least until I find another favorite.
My mind loves to roam among great minds, minds that are discovering truths and sharing them with the world; minds that aren’t afraid to change and make more of themselves and others. Because I am a book lover, I always have a stimulating and curious place for my mind to go. Boredom? What is that? As long as there is another book to read that will never be a possibility for me. How about you?
By the way, I loan out my books. Do come by. We’ll talk about what you’re thinking about and if I have a book to loan, I will. Just be sure to write your name on my card so I can keep track of it. I don’t like to lose track of my friends—-you or my books. Go to http//:www.womenlovinglifeworldwide.com for a FREE Guidebook For Women.
