I am one lucky woman! I am truly rich in every way. IMG_7883 final white

I am an opulent woman and so are you.

Some of the terms used by Random House Dictionary to define opulence are influence, richly supplied, plentiful as well as wealth and riches.

We live in a world of plenty. We are richly supplied with everything we need; and yet, we are born with a desire to be more, do more and have more. I call it ‘God genes.’ I am a daughter of God, so why wouldn’t I want to have the traits He/She has, especially when they are offered so freely? There is something inside of me that says, “I want to improve. I want to create. I want to be better at everything I do. I want to give, serve, invent, support, share, be an example, have compassion, live in joy and receive the bounties of life, like He does. Don’t you feel the same way? Life is a glorious adventure with so much to learn and so much to do. It is in us to improve, be our best and do what we were sent here to do.

I write this blog with the intent to bring out the best in all of us, especially those in the latter half of their lives–Baby Boomers, Seniors, Wise Ones.  I learned the hard way that spending my time getting rid of negative traits would not make me happy. No siree! What you focus on increases, whether it is positive or negative. Life can become really simple when we commit to letting go of the negative and focusing on the positive. Bob Newhart gives us a great demonstration of how easy that can be at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1g3ENYxg9k .It is very funny and hits very close to home. In fact, “Ouch!”

It isn’t easy to accept our weaknesses and focus on our strengths. It seems counter intuitive, doesn’t it? If there is garbage in the house, we take it out. If we are dirty we wash. That is all well and good, and it needs to be done. However, how many times are we guilty of bringing the garbage back in just so we can take it out again? Misery can become habit forming. I am suggesting that we choose to focus on our strengths, our triumphs, our successes, the good things we have done and minimize the weaknesses, faults, and stupid things we have done. We can’t focus on two things at once, so let’s focus on the glass half full instead of the glass half empty, the smile instead of the pain, what we accomplished instead of what is left undone. Just experiment with me and see what happens.

I love my life!  I hope you love your life, too!
